This beautiful creature can be harshly effected by other people's choices. And the one choice that hurts them the most, is the choice to be a poacher. The one toxic thing in a Bengal Tiger environment is a poacher. There are no toxic chemicals or anything like that that can cause bioaccumulation or biomagnification, it's just poachers. On average, 100 tigers die every year due to poaching. Why do the poachers do this you may ask? Because they think that a Tiger is a trophy that they should have hanging on their wall or as a statue in their living room. And now this strong and powerful creature is critically endangered. Isn't it for self defense? No it's not. Less then 85 people are actually injured by a Bengal Tiger every year. And even less are actually killed. More people die from snake bites and rabies then they do from Tiger's. The Repercussions of Poaching: Because of poaching, Bengal Tiger's have an estimated 12 years until they are completely gone. And once they are gone, they are not coming back. So think about that for a minute, what would it be like without them? Well, for one, the whole rest of the food web would pay for it. It you take the Bengal Tiger out of the rainforest and grassland food web/ environment, everything else would pay dearly for it. What would happen if the Bengal Tiger was no longer around: If the Bengal Tiger did go extinct, there would be a major overpopulation of deer, antelope, wild boar, and other creatures that are usually eaten by the Tiger. And if there is an overpopulation of primary consumers, then the producers/plants of the food web would be eaten a lot more and they wouldn't be able to reproduce fast enough to cover for that. Also, if there's an overpopulation of wild boar and the plants can't keep up with that, then they will begin to go into near by villages or towns. And that would be even worse because they are true pests. That's why in places like Texas they hunt Wild Boars. They tear up lawns, steal food, destroy things, and hurt other animals. Those creatures are important for the food web but they are the true pest. This is what happens to Bengal Tigers that fall victim to poachers. This is also what happens when awful human beings get away with crimes like this. The image on the far right, what do you think of it? Does it look like it's okay? No, it doesn't. It's not okay and it never will be.
I couldn't write about a toxic chemical for this part of the website because Tiger's have never had to face that. The only thing and the biggest thing they have ever had to face is awful and cruel poachers. So if you ever have a chance to help stop this, please do. This is not okay. Thank you for reading, and I hope you found this interesting.
